There could be many reasons for an error at this stage of the
scheduling process. Below are a few of the common reasons
for errors in the Upload Panel.
|
|
|
|
 |
The first thing to check is
to verify that you have typed a Description
in the field above the Upload button.
|
 |
If a description has been
provided, the next thing to check is the file name of the file
you are trying to upload. One thing to note, the file name
must not contain more than one period
(.). This should be the one before the PDF extension or other file
extension. |
|
|
Example of Acceptable
file name:
MyUploadFile.pdf |
|
|
Example of Unacceptable
file name:
My.Upload.File.pdf
|
 |
If you have verified the above steps and you continue to receive
an error when uploading the file, you might need to also check the
size of the file. Each Court can define the maximum size of an
individual upload, but the default is 4MB.
This is more than enough for any PDF document needing to be uploaded
into JCalendar. Sometimes when a document has been scanned, the
scanner settings are set to a high DPI (Dots Per Inch).
If this is the case, the scanner will create document files that are larger than
necessary. The necessary DPI for creating black
and white scanned documents is 300 DPI.
If your scanner is set to 600 or 1200 DPI, it might be creating
larger documents than can be handled by JCalendar. To check this
setting, you must consult with the administrator that set up the
machine, or look up the reference in the user manual. The scanner
should be set to the minimum 300 DPI (Black and
White Documents). At this setting, a 100 page
document can be scanned at less than 2MB. Do not set the scanner to
"Picture" quality as that will have the same affect on the
DPI.

To verify the document size, follow the steps below. |
|
|
Open the file system
by clicking on the My Computer icon on
your desktop.
 |
|
|
Next, navigate to the location
where the document is stored. In many cases, this will be the
My Documents folder. See below for further
illustration.
Once you locate the file, find the
Size column, which is usually to the right
of the file name. Note: This might require you to set the folder
lists to Detail view by clicking on the View
icon and
selecting
Details. You may also view the details of
the file by right-clicking on the file and selecting
Properties from the dropdown menu.
Once you are able to see the
size, make sure it is no more than 4,000KB
(4MB). If it is larger than 4MB, it will not upload. Most documents do not need to be this large,
even documents with many pages.
